Stylised chart of a city with a drone flight path and a shrinking safe zone A drone route crosses a city drawn as a nautical chart. A ring marks the safe area and slowly contracts. A hatched circle marks a GPS-denied area. 2245114726134841368102711352819181218244637121735513712131092654338283121262649441221611 no GPS fix

ShoalCity

Fly a drone over Bangalore and Delhi. Keep one eye on the battery.

A flight simulator on real city maps. In development, with no public download yet.

Two ways to fly

Solo

Pick a city and fly. Streets, parks and place names are under you. There is no timer and no zone. Practise a route, find a landmark, learn the layout from above.

Survival

Up to 100 pilots start in one city. The safe area shrinks and every battery drains. Loose battery packs lie around the map with no marker. You find one with your drone's sensors, land beside it and swap. A pilot whose battery runs out is out.

A spare battery is weight you carry

Mount
You can carry a spare pack only if you fit a pack mount to your drone.
Mass
The extra weight shortens your flight time. The flight model includes payload mass and the battery.
Swap
Changing packs is a timed action, not a button press.

The model aims to feel like flying a real drone. It is not identical to any aircraft and it is not a certified trainer.

When the satellites go quiet

Some areas jam GPS. Inside them auto-land, waypoint and hold are unavailable, and you bring the drone down by hand.

Spoofed areas are worse. The position fix is wrong and drifting, so you cannot trust the autopilot. Place names on screen get less certain as your navigation degrades. Jam zones can be switched off.

Two cities so far

Bangalore

Built from city scene data, with street and place names read from the map.

Delhi

The second city, with its own collision map and the same rules. Place labels use Hindi names where the map data has them.

Where it stands

Working in development builds

  • Solo flight over Bangalore and Delhi
  • Survival practice against computer pilots
  • Battery scarcity, a shrinking zone, GPS jamming and spoofing
  • Spoken announcer cues
  • A match server built for up to 100 pilots, still in testing
  • Guest play, optional accounts and score boards

Not yet

  • A public download or a release date
  • Pilot-versus-pilot combat
  • Voice or text chat
  • Sign-in with Google

Pilots under 13 play as guests, without an account. Ages 13 to 17 will need a parent's confirmation by email, and ShoalCity keeps a one-way hash of the parent's address, not the address itself. Open sign-up waits on a legal review.
